Memory is an incredibly complex thing. In many ways, it reflects who we are - what we call our personality. We remember the taste and smell of our grandmother’s pie. We remember the blinding sunlight before our first day of kindergarten. And somehow, in an incredibly strange and intricate way, all of these little fragments come together to form a single, continuous “self.” Billions of neurons build long chains, fall silent, and communicate with one another so that you can remember. But memory can lie. The mood you were in, what you had for breakfast, even what you were wearing can influence the way you remember an event. In your mind, it may remain far more dramatic than it really was - or, on the contrary, much brighter and happier than reality. And despite all of this, you are, in many ways, your memories.
