This is still very much a thing for Polish immigrants. I’m a first generation American, but I know tons of Polish people who come over to the US work for the summer or for a few years just to return to Poland and to live off the money they made here

Great grandpa came 6 time starting at 14 years old. On his 6th trip he stayed cause of the 1924 immigration act. If he left they wouldn’t let him back in again
