im not here in the defense of colorism whatsoever, it exists 100% and we can be racist af unfortunately but some people have a hard time separating what they perceive as African American from skin color. I have cousins that are half Mexican and half Caribbean so there is a distinction from black folks born in America vs folks born elsewhere. im not saying one is better than the other but the cultures are widely different. one of the best friends I ever had is Jamaican and let me tell you the HATE he has for gangsta rap rivals that of any clan member. it's no secret that people born in African countries are quick to criticize their American counterparts? all because of values not lining up, definitively skin color. I feel like that switch up you experienced is from a person that is just too quick to judge or outright ignorance. I think if it were true racism there would not be a change in the behavior because a racist inherently cannot make those distinctions and if they can, it doesn't matter to them because what they hate is your skin color.

Honestly from my personal experiences anyone can be racist. White, black and Latino, Asian and the list goes on and on. If someone is disrespectful to me I will act the same towards them I don’t care who they are. If they are kind I will be kind.

I'm going to tell you a story. I live in the Chicago suburbs. My wife's church was going to host these singers from different countries. So these girls were supposed to come from Europe and they ask these families if they could host these women. It was good to be over the Christmas week.. so all of these white families were fighting to host these women. it was supposed to be eight young female adults. Well it fell through and they sent them to France. But they said at the last minute hey we'll have these eight girls coming from Mexico, in fact they are en route..None of the white families would host them..all of a sudden they had other people coming over for the holidays and they just couldn't accommodate them..Not even one. So my wife told the pastor hey we will take some of them in..Still no one would take the others so we took all eight girls in to stay with us for a whole week and it was Christmas week. None of the white people would take them but they all wanted to take the girls from Europe.. we are black and we had three children living in a fairly new four bedroom home. we gave those eight girls three bedrooms. they were appreciative that we let them stay with us. we bought them gifts and shared our home fully with them. my daughters slept in our room on the floor and my son slept in the loft. the white pastor whose friends wouldn't allow these girl to their homes wouldn't even say thank you. two year later I saw that they went to a church in Texas and they stayed with this white family. the ironic thing is the Mexican girls along with the pastor was on Facebook thanking this family and telling them how appreciative they were and how much love they felt. Come to find out later the pastor paid that family to let them stay there. I say this to say Latinos pretend like they don't know that many white people despise them and they will still try to be friends and beg for their acceptance. Black people have done absolutely nothing to these brown people and yet they think it will bring them closer to white proximity if they dislike us. Sadly I've had white people tell me why are you nice to them? we want them out of the country.

My grandma told me a story of a lady she knew in El Salvador back in 50s and 60s. The lady treated her last kid terribly because he was darker than her first. She said thats just how it was and no one really said anything.

My dad who’s Afro Latino they treat him weird until they hear him speak Spanish even me I’ve been told I don’t look Latino enough because I look like a Arab or their favorite word to use on me like a “Taliban”
