John 14:3 :
When people hear the word “works,” they often associate it with themselves. However, it’s important to recognize that no one is inherently good. It’s the Father who instills these works within us. Only He is truly good. As the Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 2:13, “Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.” It’s not our works that save us; it’s His work through us. We can never save ourselves through our righteous deeds. It’s not us who desires everyone’s salvation; it’s Him within us who doesn’t want anyone to perish. As Jesus said, “The Son can do nothing by Himself, but only what he sees the Father doing.” We are not children of lawlessness, and we do what we observe our Father doing. Jesus further emphasized, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working.” If I don’t do the works of My Father, don’t believe Me; but if I do, even if you don’t believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” By their fruits, you will know them. You’re not working because you’re trying to get saved; you’re essentially just being a vessel for Him to do good works through you to fulfill His purpose. It’s not us trying to appear holy; it’s Him within us who keeps us holy from sinning. As Jude 1:24 states, “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
That’s why it’s called the fruits of the HOLY SPIRIT, not “our” fruits. It’s His fruits, so no one can boast. The LORD doesn’t share His glory or praise (Isaiah 42:8). All glory belongs to the one who is good. Our best works are just filthy rags for Him. If we abide in Him, we begin producing HIS fruits.
Jesus said, “And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand - Matthew 7:26.”
