But when you look closely at what’s taught versus what’s erased from the forced sterilization of Black Europeans, that the Roma, disabled and queer people were victims in the holocaust as well to 500 years of transatlantic slavery, colonial genocide, and ongoing displacement, you start to see how history is filtered through Eurocentric priority. When one tragedy is elevated as the universal standard while others are sidelined, it’s selective empathy. Atrocity is not a competition, but when selective memory is weaponized to justify ongoing violence today, revisiting what we were taught isn't just necessary it's mandatory.
