My ex and I broke up the weekend before Valentine’s Day, the kids asked all about what he got me and I eventually told them. They kept a countdown on the board everyday for me being no contact and I truly think that healed so much of me 🥹🫶🏼

Got dumped and didn’t sleep the night before teaching middle school once. It was written all over my face and I eventually told 2 students. One of them told the rest of her class to be nice to me and then I had a bunch of kids trying to get his address so they could egg his car 😂

My 7th grade English teacher canceled all lessons the day the singer Aaliyah died. She had the portable tv on MTV bc they were only playing her music videos, interviews, and breaking news about the plane crash. My teacher was crying the whole time and everyone had to be quiet.

My first year teaching I was in the most abusive relationship. I was 23 and struggling and they were high schoolers. I came in one day unable to stop crying because he was hitting me in the car before dropping me off at work (he didn’t let me drive). My kids were the reason I was able to leave and stay strong. They threatened to go and hurt him the same way he hurt me.
