Have you ever thought that maybe this sharing is caring attitude has gone too far and that is why gen z thinks communism and socialism are so great? It is not mean or entitled to say "I bought this and I do not have to share if I don't want to." That is the whole basis of consent. People forget that consent matters in ALL aspects of life, not just s3x and physical touch.

I dont mind sharing but when they say send the kids with 2 boxs of pencils an 2 week into school year my daughter comes home with no pencils to do homework.. side note I do have at home but why they cant bring home pencils to do home work

I just don’t understand when “community bins” became a thing. I graduated in 2014, all throughout school I had my own supplies all the time. They didn’t go in these bs “community bins.” Like im so sorry but if my children pick out folders and notebooks they specifically want, they better have them all damn year. Not some cheap plain bs another parent bought because they have to go in a “community bin.”

I have never cared about the crayons, pencils, markers, ect. However a few years back one of my kids teachers took all the notebooks and folders and redistributed them. Her reason was that the less fortunate kids deserved cute notebooks and folders too. The charcter notebooks and folders are more expensive then the plain ones. My daughter got all plain cheap ones and none of the expensive charcter ones. That upset me and I did go rebuy the charcter ones she wanted. The dang teacher took them again and gave them to someone else. At that point I went to principal and was like this is dumb. The teacher was told to give her the second set back.

I’m single mom of three who works full time trying to survive in this economy. This summer I busted my butt so MY kids can have nice things. So yes I’m not buying extra or for sharing. Aslongest mine have their own things. 🤷♀️the rest don’t matter to me

I’m a teacher and if a child brings stuff that costs more than the supplies a parent bought for a classroom, then that is their stuff. Sharing is caring can be harmful to a child. If you teach a child they have to share their property with someone else, it tells them they are not worthy of their property. If the kids want to share, then it’s fine. But I don’t force sharing

I think it has to do with the parents not getting everything on the list and other parents picking up the slack… or the ones like me that get the name brand and the other parents that don’t… I don’t really care either way but I can see how it is annoying

I think it’s a good thing like to share things. My son tells me if there’s ever a new kid or a kid that doesn’t have school supply his teachers just able to grab some extra items because I mean Son of us like to send extra things. No kid should go without

When I was in kindergarten in the early 90s, each kid had to bring in $1 for the gluestick fund. If Lanny was able to eat the gluestick his mom paid a dollar for and Enrique could stick one up his nose, I can send in extra because I know kids do some dumb shit with school supplies. School supplies should not be a barrier to education.

I asked my son what would he do if a classmate next to him didn’t have a pencil , he said he would break the pencil in 1/2 and give him a 1/2 . He just finished kindergarten. Do better parents !

for Elementary yes I can see this, middle and high school, nope, my kids now have VERY specific preferences and they are expensive, I buy a cheap box for each of my kids classes of pencils, colored pencils, and crayons (yes they use them in high school and middle school) but their expensive stuff is theirs and theirs alone
