If he would’ve did it walking backwards on the concrete side he wouldn’t of had to adjust not one time and you keep the string closer to the concrete for a tight edge not a trench just a opinion nothing major

A real edger puts a groove into the soil next to the substrate you are edging against. This groove catches lawn debris and soil running off the lawn during storms. Buy an edger.
