@owenokaneten: Heat does something to the body that feels almost exactly like anxiety. Your heart beats faster. Your breathing quickens. You’re warm from the inside out. That’s your body cooling itself down — working harder, doing its job. But it’s the same set of signals anxiety produces. So the mind reads them and reaches for the only explanation it has. Something must be wrong. But nothing is wrong. And then there’s the bit nobody mentions. Blue skies arrive with an instruction attached — you should be happier now. Everyone else certainly looks like they’re having the summer of their lives. Trust me. They’re not. So cool the body down. Drink the water — dehydration makes everything louder. And when the anxious part of you shows up, don’t square up to it. It isn’t your enemy. It’s just hot, like the rest of you. Turn the temperature down. In the room, and in yourself. Save this for the next hot spell — and send it to someone who’d be glad to know nothing’s gone wrong. #MentalHealth #anxiety
