The closest thing I can think of to aura farming is “trying to be cool”. They both point out when somebody is acting jn a way to be perceived in a cool way. However they differ heavily in connotation. When somebody is “trying to be cool”, it’s often seen as uncool and forced. But when somebody is aura farming, they are still seen as cool even though it is identified they are trying hard to achieve that. It’s a fundamental culture shift in how we view trying.

the use of the word farming here is the new phenomenon. i think farming used to be used in terms of video games, and now gen z has applied farming to other concepts. swag is closest in definition to aura, but before like 2020 ish very few people would use it with farming. swag farming (the concept of collecting swag) wasnt a thing. people just thought of “acting cool” or maybe “posing(?)”.

Yeah exactly; it’s a human thing. When the MASSES specifically, because there will always be outliers, get to a certain age, their views and ideologies solidify and they tend to engage in less-and-less and new stuff. So in turn their EFFORT of understanding the next generation goes down too
