This isn’t the first INSANE take Tom Holland has had about the US. Remember what beans on toast boy said about American food 😅

There are like 4 different 'native' New York accents alone. Maybe it's not based on the borough, but they're definitely distinct.

Time is way more important than size in accent development… the uk has more accents because people have stayed there and developed their own way of speaking over a longer period of time… it’s why Australians don’t have many distinct accents

The UK has different accents town to town, even village to village, and usually there are variations in each town depending on economic background. It seems crazy but The US is much younger and grew alongside industrialisation and motor carriages, making communities much wider.

as a brit, i can't tell the difference between canadian and american accents (yeah i know it's because i'm not used to them) yet i can tell when someone is from liverpool or manchester and i'd argue that someone not from britain would also be able to notice the accent differences 🤔

it’s not even an insult to say that… the uk is so much smaller than the us. it stands to reason that there would be more accents here, even if john was wrong it’s not crazy to say that lol

It's the entire of the uk, not just England. You can go ten minutes up the road and it's a different accent. I'm Welsh, and so is my brother in law but he's got a different Welsh accent.

I think talking about the size of countries is irrelevant when you take into account TIME, the UK has naturally more accents since it’s spoken English for ages, there’s been time for more regional dialects to develop

I've traveled to 43 states, and while you hear unique accents here and there, it's not too dissimilar so I would say England has a larger variety and more distinct accents
