@forgotten.feelings_: Physical touch can mean so much more when you’re someone who doesn’t naturally want everyone in your personal space. It’s not that you suddenly love being touched by anybody—it’s that affection becomes something deeply personal that you only share with the people who make you feel completely safe. A hug lasts differently when it’s from someone you trust. Holding hands, laying your head on their chest, cuddling after a long day, or feeling them pull you closer can communicate something words sometimes can’t. When you’re selective about physical closeness, letting someone into that space can become one of the strongest ways of saying, “I trust you.” That’s why loving physical touch and disliking casual touch aren’t necessarily contradictions. The difference is the person. With everyone else, you might instinctively want your space, but with someone you deeply love, you find yourself wanting the exact opposite—you want them closer. Sometimes intimacy isn’t about how affectionate you are with everyone; it’s about having one person who makes you feel safe enough to lower every wall and let them into a part of you that very few people ever get to experience.
