pokesalad plant is edible if you cook it right I’ve eaten it a few times growing up but now I pull it up like yourself but if you want to eat the leaves, they taste like spinach if you cook them enough times yes I said times

Hey maybe you covered this in a video awhile ago but i haven’t found it, Why do none of these homesteading videos (Yours and Others) showing their gardens/ plants does no one ever weed them? It drives me crazy i was taught growing up (in a very successful gardening farm) you need to weed to have good crops and prevent diseases but no one ever seems to do it?

Corn does best when planted in squares so it can cross pollinate. My dad used to plant 6’x6’ squares. He’d plant a new square each week until he got to the opposite side of his garden. 1 square = 1 week corn on the cob for several dinners. When 1 plot was harvested, the next one was ready. We had corn for about 4-6 weeks this way. He’d pull the harvested stalks and plant another crop in that space.

Young pokeweed can be processed to be edible. “Poke Salad” was a staple of Appalachia and poorer rural communities. It’s a bit of a pain in the neck though.
