This is a very important point, and people should look beyond the result.
Everyone wants to celebrate and clap when an athlete brings home a medal, but very few people ask what happens before that moment. An athlete may have the legs, the discipline, the talent, and the mindset to run, but an empty stomach cannot produce an elite performance. Nutrition is not a luxury for athletes—it is part of training itself.
You cannot expect someone to perform at an international level while neglecting the basic fuel their body needs. You don’t create an elite athlete only on the day they win; you build them through proper nutrition, medical support, training, facilities, and consistent investment.
And this goes beyond athletics. It reflects a wider problem in a country where we can sometimes be more interested in appearances—hosting diplomats, showcasing achievements, and celebrating ourselves on social media—than investing seriously in the people and communities who actually create those achievements.
The athletes deserve more than applause after success. They deserve support before it.
This is not criticism of the athlete. It is a call to take the athlete seriously
