When Gulf Of Mexico waters get above 86°F Vibrio becomes active. Several years ago a healthy man in Galveston, TX in his mid 30's (if im not mistaken) was wade fishing while out with his family. He reached into his floating bait bucket and was horned by a live shrimp. The simple nick to his finger started burning and eventually started spreading up his arm & at first he shrugged it off. Eventually it became worse & he could no longer ignore the fact that something way bigger was going on and he went to UTMB Galveston hospital. He never left there alive unfortunately.
