NTA and child support shouldn't stop at 18 because I guess OP didn't stop supporting her children when they turn 18. Op didn't have to say anything, her ex is a grown man he could manage by himself not op responsability.

Nah, because why did he not just....do it? Because why didn't he know how old his kids are? Why didn't he realize his kids were 18?

Nah, Paralegal here, absolutely the AH. Knowledge of the law doesn't indemnify you from the consequences of not following it.

Everyone keeps saying that she agreed to do every other child but I didn’t think she ever said that. Just that she filed the first one and the rest were on him to file

NTA it's his responsibility. She could have reminded him but this is literally a grown man

As long as she is saving all the additional support in a separate account for each child, if it gets brought back up in court you have proof you didn’t spend it and you are able to give it all back

Not her responsibility and not ta but it’s definitely a little shitty she didn’t say anything but also like she should’ve gotten that 3rd kid off

kids don’t become free for the custodial parent just because they turned 18.

Pretty sure my ex thought if he didn’t pay child support when she turned 18 it would just stop. He owes thousands in back child support now and my daughter is in her 20’s. His fault 🤭 not quite same situation. Also he’s an adult.

he's not her husband or responsibility anymore lmfao. a grown adult man should be capable of remembering when to file paperwork without his EX wife reminding him. she shouldn't have even done it first. its not her problem

The mum didn't stop taking care of the kids at 18, and for the same reason, the courts don't automatically stop the dad giving child support at 18. If the dad wants to stop supporting his kids and put the burden fully on the mum then he has to file with the courts, and he didn't do that. It's on him, surely the money coming out of his pay is reminder enough. In the UK, it's literally shown on your payslip each month what your deductions are.

NTA. If he cared enough about the money he would've filed the paperwork or he would have said something and asked her about it. If he can't turn it in due to a work schedule or something then he still could've asked her to do it since they're on good terms. If she still used the money for the kids then I don't think it matters because they don't stop needing stuff after 18 and would likely still ask for said money regardless

In TX, child support ends when the child turns 18 or graduates high school, whichever comes last. Dad would’ve been the one responsible for this, not OP.

She sounds bitter about the divorce ngl. She's talking about how good of a guy he is but also knowingly took his money. It's definitely like 60-70% the guys fault but still seems like there's some unresolved spite here.
