It was a Slavic water spirit/entity. Their species is called Vodyanoy. I can explain what it is, why it went shapeless, and why it followed them if interested. They are kinda dangerous. Not everyone can see them but when you called out to it, it knew you saw it, the knocks were a test. Never ever ever acknowledge a water spirit that found you.

Just walking down a dirt road in the country at 3am, just woods all around me, not a care in the world 😳 How have I never seen anything out there?? when i was a kid we went to mackinac island and we went to the beach to look for shells, i wandered off to a different area under the pier and i saw a woman in a huge dress but she was soggy. i asked her if she was ok and she just screamed. i ran away and went to get my grandpa. when we walked over the lady was gone. i was so scared, i cried to not go back the next day. i was maybe 7

We vacation every summer in the MI Upper Peninsula. Haven’t seen any ghosts up there yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve learned that because there are so many shipwrecks, Lake Superior is officially designated as a cemetery. This summer I saw this cool map of Lake Superior shipwrecks- I kind of regret not buying it.

We went to Whitefish Point in June. We visited the shipwreck museum while we were there. The thing that creeped me out was when we went through the lighthouse keeper's house. They have mannequins dressed for the era throughout 😳 Here's one example. I don't know but I really wanted out of there. I kept joking that it was like Night at the Museum and they come alive at night. I was really happy to get out of there LOL
