I don’t get this mentality of wanting likeable characters all the time. (Altough he becomes likeable later on) a character can be unlikable and still be a really good written character. Though like I said Junpei becomes likeable later on. It’s intentional

He has character development but he’s kinda “pathetic” or underwhelming because that’s his character he’s supposed to be relatable to people who feel the least capable in a room full of extrordinary people. Also I think u gotta take yourself outta makotos shoes and look at the cast from the outside in to understand and relate to junpeis character imo he’s much better written than yosuke and ryuji and also one of the more viable units in combat
