@ariel.kapp: This isn't a video of a 2-year-old little girl playing doctor. This was a mom trying her best to make something very scary feel a little less scary. We were working through her fear of blood draws. I wanted her to understand that getting "pokes" hurts, but that she could do hard things. Blood work is a necessary part of living with cystic fibrosis. Looking back now, this video breaks my heart a little. At 2 years old, she already understood what was about to happen when someone tied a tourniquet around her arm. She knew there would be a poke. She knew we were getting blood. She didn't know all the medical words, but she understood enough. She's still afraid of getting her blood drawn. It still hurts. It's still scary. And it still sucks. But watching this reminds me that even then, she was doing the best she could to make sense of a world that asked her to be brave far too soon. #unitedstates #CysticFibrosis #unitedkingdom #newyork #germany
