Zero acclimation for the fish like I’m no expert and I’ve only had like two tanks of small fish for myself but I’m like 60% sure when you switch them from water to water you gotta sit them in it for like a couple minutes before fully putting them in😭

Im so ashamed of how I took care of my beta fish, they all lived 1.5 years. But I had no clue that I was doing things wrong😭 a freaking employee told me they would be fine, I shouldn’t have believed them. Now that i know they take so much more responsibility and care. I will not be owning them. I’m happy that people online have educated me.

I have sand and aqua gravel and 3 plants along with a sponge filter and a heater which keeps th water 78-82F. I use testing strips along with first bites betta food because she is a long finned elephant ear baby betta and can't eat hard food yet. I also give her blood worms. I have water conditioner as well and a 5 gallon tank since she's long finned. I don't have any artificial things in my tank or plastic. I did have driftwood but it turned my water black so I didn't keep it. is this a good setup? 😭 her fins have changed brighter and she's a lot more energetic out of the cup and she has a betta toy hoop

At first, I wanted to make an aquarium just for "beauty," but if you even just look for the species of fish you want to put in it, you already understand that there are many things you need to do and more research. Now I have a hobby, someone I take care of and I make sure my aquarium is always in good condition. If you don't want something "demanding," look for something else.
