@pnw_abby: What to know 👇🏼 📍Lower Lewis River Falls, WA • Located in SW Washington near Mount St Helens, about a two hour drive from Portland. • You’ll park at the Lower Falls Recreation Area which requires you to obtain a permit a few weeks in advance from Recreation.gov from June 15th through Labor Day. Parking here without a permit is a misdemeanor FYI. • There is no signal for most of the drive (or at the falls itself) so download the map ahead of time and plan accordingly. • Road is very windy with potholes and gravel but totally doable in a sedan. • To get down to the falls you’ll need to hike down a very steep and slippery trail with roped sections. Wear shoes with good traction, have your hands free and take it slow. • The Lewis River is sourced by glaciers on Mount Adams and the water is COLD. Rocks are slippery so water shoes/sandals with good grip really come in handy here. • Please be respectful and leave no trace, or better yet, leave it better than you found it.
