It’s a beautiful formal dress, but it’s not black tie. Black tie doesn’t have a slit up to there. It has wide straps or sleeves, not sleeveless. It’s a beautiful dress and looks great on you. Most people don’t know what the difference is anyway so you are probably fine to wear it.

It is stunning. Made for you. Beautiful fit and color. But it is not black tie by definition. The asymmetric hemline/slit, precludes it from being (by definition) black tie.

I think some of you are mistaking Black Tie with All Black...All black means everyone is head to toe black...Black tie means formal as in men in a traditional black tie tuxedo and a woman is in a floor length gown...literally all that means...so you my dear indeed understood the assignment....my only suggestion instead of the shawl wear a simple necklace instead it will accentuate your neck line...your necklace and shoulders are stunning and sharp the shawl hides that...in my opinion of course
