@isha.will.tok: Just start freaking listening and believing Black women. It's so simple. And not everybody asking for pain medication is seeking a high or a hit. especially chronically ill people. But it's not like people treat us like we deserve any sort of support anyway... #blackhealthmatters #mswarrior🧡 #utahmoms #utahcheck
I’m not saying it’s about race but I went to Common Spirit in Salt Lake a couple of months ago because I had a toothache so bad It was causing chest pains and I couldn’t eat or sleep, It was 3am on a Sunday, when i got to the back the dr looked at me and said “Idk what you want me to do about it, find a dentist”…. Sir at 3am on a Sunday?? I started crying because I was just that done with the pain and he left my room and told everyone “Welp I made her cry”… then they charged me $3000 for a dr to look in my mouth and give me a numbing shot I was there maybe 30min total.. I made it to a dentist on Monday and the root of my tooth was touching a nerve and had a massive infection under my tooth (had two extractions and the “pain” of the extractions was a zero compared to the pain I was in before). Do better Utah

It’s honestly just Utah. I was at IHC for my birth and as a Mexican woman they didn’t care abt me and kept denying my induction for preeclampsia because they forgot to document two of my high blood pressure readings and told me they didn’t wanna get into legal trouble to induce me as I was getting sicker by the minute and had every single symptom and was in labor and delivery almost nightly, but they kept denying me until my husband asked if they were only denying me because they wanted to kill a brown woman. Then magically 24 hours later they let me have my C-section.

my wife was horribly treated at the U. We are seeking legal action. They discharged her because "they needed the beds" even though she was still in severe pain and unable to walk. 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

I think women here in Utah don't get taken seriously by Drs. We know our pain we know our bodies and I feel like WE ALL are put to the side. I have chronic pain I know there is an answer of why but I just get shuffled around as well. Whatever you do don't go to Utah Valley, I was sexually assaulted there last year and came to find out I wasn't the patient it happened too, of course I reported it all and all I got was a letter and when I tried to get lawyers they just said in their actual words "I'm a small fish in a big pond".

I had to have both of my babies at the U and I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy. It's a joke how they treat women of color. Definitely file a complaint. With my first, I refused to pay a dime and filed a complaint (I was hospitalized for a month after birth). They knocked down my bill from $30,000 to $4,000 after the review.

I know this was posted last month but hey if you end up going to that hospital again I live in Utah as well and I'm suddenly going to be your adopted sister and I will fight for you queen. I hate how black women are so mistreated and y'all do not deserve this at all.

They cut a nerve doing a surgery which has caused damage to my right leg and also ignored an infection from the surgery causing me to need a wound vac for 2 months. The resident even said “oops” when they realized

This is pretty much everywhere in Utah. You have to literally have someone with you as a witness because its awful.

That’s one thing I’ll give Utah hospitals… usually the nurses are so compassionate and do way more for you than the doctors. Best wishes on a speedy recovery 🙏❤️

I’m so incredibly sorry you have to deal with this the disrespect of Utah drs is unmatched and it breaks my heart that you have to fight for your needs instead of them understanding and respecting the differences all of our bodies have. I hope you have a safe recovery

I'm white, but I got my first IUD at a UofU instacare when I was 18. Dr.White made it seem like it was no big deal, told me if I wanted to take Ibuprofen beforehand I could but it wasnt necessary. I was clearly the first patient he had given an IUD to. It was excruciating, worse than lacerating my liver, and when he was done he left me alone violently shaking in a room with a giant puddle of blood on the floor. I could barely walk, barely put my clothes back on, I was covered in blood, and I was rushed out of the clinic. I sat on the curb for over an hour unable to drive myself home. I was horrified to get it taken out, but 6 years later I went to a real gynecologist, they were horrified about how my procedure was handled. Women are constantly silenced and belittled in the healthcare system, its an absolute joke.

I don't think anyone at the UofU wants to prescribe pain meds I had brain surgery and cochlear implant surgery with them and all I got was Tylenol and antinausea meds.
