I gave a client a quote recently that felt really high to me. Then she came back with a few additional things she wanted me to do—and offered to pay me even more. Why? Because she’s a busy working mother, and what she was really buying wasn’t just organizing, laundry, dishes, or a home reset. She was buying relief. This is something I think divorced former tradwives especially need to understand when we’re building service-based businesses. We chronically underestimate the value of what we do because these things were simply our lives. We organized homes. We cooked. We cleaned. We cared for children. We taught. We helped elderly family members. We managed everyone’s schedules. And we did it for free. In fact, many of us wouldn’t have even considered paying someone else to do those things. So when someone offers to pay us hundreds of dollars to do something we’ve always considered “just part of life,” it can feel almost absurd. But we’re not selling the task. We’re selling what the task makes possible for someone else. The working mom gets to come home to a reset house. The parent gets a few hours back. The family gets a calmer evening. The student gets help catching up. The caregiver gets a break. That’s the value. So if you have a service-based business, don’t just think about what you’re physically doing. Think about the problem you’re removing. The time you’re giving back. The stress you’re taking away. The relief you’re creating. Because people aren’t always paying for the thing you do. They’re paying for how they get to feel when you do it. #StartOverStrategy #DivorcedFormerTradwife #ServiceBasedBusiness #WomenAndMoney #WomenBuildingBusinesses
