You fix this by establishing routine. I would highly encourage any family with a kiddo with adhd to seek support from a coach… life coaching or therapy can help significantly!

The stress is real. Parents are cruel to to ADHD children , because their brilliance shines through the chaos and the anger makes them give up

ADHD mom here and I am the opposite. I don’t know how to sit down, I stay ontop of everything and I’m like a pacing dog doing things from the moment I wake up to when my kids go to bed which is when I typically allow myself to sit. Even if I’m able to sit, I find myself looking for things to get up and do. I am however very forgetful and distracted and cant give someone my attention when I’m hyper focused on task completion. I have learned how to manage my scatter brain and forgetfulness by using alarms, reminders& my notes app.

Not to mention the emotional dysregulation in ADHDers. Screaming and meltdowns on top of that.

Routine, discipline, structure. I'm nowhere near perfect, but these things have helped me tremendously throughout my life.

As an ADHD person iv learnt that I really needed structure in my life by forming healthy habits and routines . Learning how to create a habit so it turns into a lifestyle is the biggest thing you can learn! This goes for the way you talk to yourself. They way you talk to others the way you track your thoughts and redirect them if they are negative ei your perception on things. Forming a healthy fast routine to get ready in the morning each day so you can get out the door on time. Preparing your outfits the day before and scheduling your whole day into your calander even your get ready time your lazy time your walking and driving time your gym time with out that you will be unproductive and get nothing done with out a plan and times in action. Having an everyday outfit you repeat everyday so you don’t have to think you just put it on helps a lot. Meal prepping. Signing up for a club or sports so you stay accountable for something.

I was An Adhd Mom in the 90s I had no idea I had Adhd and this was true stress was huge. but I came up with Routines and plans and schedule alarms to help me cope. I'm so proud of myself that today at 53 I can be ready on time, I just learned to prepare myself better and I give myself grace when things come up last minute. I still don't like last minute invites though I won't make myself go but there are some exceptions. ☺️

You are describing my family. We just recently realized we all have ADHD and we are working on it. But it’s tough to change.

There is also the toll of having everyone mad at you and stressing you out because that's what gets them the outcome they want.

Lists. The only way I survived having 5 kids. Whiteboards, shared calendars and lots of lists. Daily list, weekly list, monthly list..If I had stock in Post-Its I’d be a millionaire. Now my kids are adults and trying to survive. I tell them get a whiteboard and make everything in your brain VISUAL! It helps so much. Just get it out. Journal, write a book, make a list.

I call it conflict seeking. It gets the right hormones going in them and then they can follow through.
