I never cared about getting school supplies. I’ll get whatever they need. But I don’t like teachers who make supplies communal. Sorry ask for donations if need so you can secretly ensure a kid has stuff. But my kid likes picking out stuff and it teaches responsibility to take care of their stuff.

I don't know how kids these days lose everything. My daughter recently finished kindergarten, she had TWO pencils the entire school year. 2 in case she lost one. She finished kindergarten with the same 2 pencils. That's her eraser.

honestly american teachers sound like ANGELS. i was shocked when i found out they buy everything out of pocket like??? i went to both public and private schools in my country and if you needed supplies, the teachers would just ask other students to lend it to you lol

Why are parents paying taxes for schools if they still need to supply the school. And even home owners with no kids are still paying those same taxes. The problem is the education systems flow of money. Imagine going into Dunkin’ Donuts and have to bring your own lids. Let’s talk about where the funding is going instead.

In Australia, there are two common ways stationary is handled in school. 1) school supplied and its communal. 2) Parent purchase. In younger grades these are communal I'm older grades it's personal use.

I don’t get it, every student in Chile owns a pencil case with all the supplies they can possibly need, they carry it with them from school to their homes and vice versa. I owned one of each utensil and used it until I ran out of it every time.

honestly why this is a thing in america? in my country, either we bought our own supply for the whole year or the school will provide it but only once for the whole year, and it's not the homeroom teacher who bought it but the school itself, and in my experience the school supply last me the whole year soo

idk how parents can't do the bare minimum. my mom made sure I had notebooks pens and pencils with back ups at home to make sure I can focus on school. they were all cheap from the dollar store too. parents aren't allowed to complain wtf
