I turn 19 in October and things have been great for me since I graduated high school and turned 18 last year I still haven't gotten a job or learned to drive yet I'm hoping those things happen in the near future I'm currently in community college in September I'm going into my second year to get my associates degree in general studies I've also been learning a lot about independence and everything I still live with my parents seperate houses since I was a little kid/both single parents I'm also an only child I do have a dog sister though she's 2 in October it'll be 2 years since me and my mom got her but last year during my 2nd semester of highschool before graduation I took a college english class and 1st semester was easy so I thought everything would be fine for the rest but the workload was a lot not only for that class so my anxiety skyrocketed to a point where I was crying and making myself sick not like my normal self at all I put so much pressure on myself since I've always gotten good grades and did well in school I was even in honor society so I had to get good grades and I always refused to miss school I was 12th in my class though and thank God for friends family the teachers I had and going to therapy because everyone in my life was so loving and caring for me during that time after graduation I did go on anxiety meds (zoloft) and things got much better for me and my mental health I started concerta for my ADHD this year which helped me as well I also struggled with bullying in school when I was younger mostly about my body people would also make fun of my personality since I've always been on my best behavior like I'm not the troublemaker type at all no parties for me please I'm staying in my room but my confidence is up now and I'm in a really great spot with my boy best friend of 5 years half a decade of friendship we met my freshman year his sophomore year we sat at lunch and went to homecoming/prom/a Disney concert together he's turning 20 next month he's awkward/sweet never had a bf of 1st kiss so it's big deal for me so for anyone struggling just know that life does get better I promise (thank you so much for reading this)

I tried to take my life at 14 because of a friendship breakup - I had no one and needed to switch schools. Now at 38 I love my life so much. And I think my 40s will be even better.

The 19 year old version of me would be SO proud of the 33 year old version of me. I used to be SO codependent, constantly hurting myself for the benefit of others, and I had no idea what I was capable of.
