Giving them grace at the cost of my own mental health doesn’t sound like a good idea

Human relationships are so complicated...it takes tears and energies if you indulge so much in it

I also hate the phrase "if he wanted to he would" or "you shouldn't have to tell your partner ......" yeah but that's not how relationships work. You have to speak, communicate, listen and forgive each other. If I would act the way some Tiktoks tell me to, me and my fiance wouldn't be together for 7 years now.

I think the biggest damage consummerism has done to us, is making people think other people are disposable and that there's always "someone better"

Maybe it’s because over the years we have put people before us and given them a chance over and over again at our own expense that we now choose ourselves that at the slightest inconvenience we choose ourselves and leave . We are just on survival mode . Not knowing who to trust , who to give in to anymore , how many chances one has to be given to change . So at the end of the day we are just trying to survive

I feel like people nowadays see social media relationships standards and then proceed to apply it into their lives which is quite sad because they really will have it hard on love because they never got to learn how to love without the effects of someone or something they’ve seen before thinking it’s the proper way to love.

no more time for grace. whatever makes you question it is a sign to let it go immediately

I used to call every difficult moment a sign that someone wasn't right for me, until I realized I was expecting people to know how to love me without ever giving them room to learn me

I agree, however you need to be in a relationship with someone who is equally as emotionally intelligent in order for it to work. These values not reciprocated will still be all the negative connotations mentioned x

I beg to disagree, I work in a mental health clinic. You would be shock from the cases we encounter. 70% people go to therapy out of relationships problems. Meaning some people just project emotional intelligence, but if you would look at the statistics—we’re not there yet. Especially with the Ai, it can further develop pathological behaviors.

The thing is, they have to want to improve. Nobody is born with all the knowledge, but some people don’t see any wrong in their actions: that’s the real pandemic 🥺

I think being emotionally intelligent is not only about learning of our own emotional state. Being truly emotionally intelligent means, not only we understand ourselves emotionally but also to understand it from other people perspectives, without judging them and at the same time know what actions that need to be taken when someone starts affecting us negatively. Couldn’t call someone emotionally intelligent, if he/she still judgy(e.g call people red flag right away).

I agree with all of this but please people don't misinterpret this if you're receiving disrespect on the other side, I tolerated so much because of this way of thinking only in resulting getting walked on and lied to so many times like it was a normal thing that was supposed to happen in a relationship. that is NOT right.
mind how people talk to you, and while this whole discourse is really true I do still believe that people at our big age are fully aware of what they do and why. dont be fooled and mind your own business and do whatever you feel like doing living with no regrets.

sometimes we're trying so hard to be emotionally intelligent, we often forget to be genuine about how we feel

Emotional intelligence is exactly what you described. Ppl who don't understand that and expect everything to be perfect are the ones who need a little bit of growth.
