@miku_val_: A dakimakura (抱き枕, from 抱く daku "to hug, embrace" and 枕 makura "pillow, bolster") is a type of large pillow invented in Japan, about the width of a regular pillow but traditionally around 1.5 meters long. Due to their popularity, smaller dakimakura are now available, ranging from about 1 meter to 7 meters in length.[1] Originally, dakimakura were used as orthopedic cushions in Japan, and by young people as transitional objects.[2] In the West, however, the term is primarily used to refer to erotically themed dakimakura (or even those intended for use as sex toys), which are life-size and depict scantily clad figures in suggestive poses. These figures are often anime or video game characters depicted in a bishōjo style, but sometimes they are photographs of pornographic film actresses. Dakimakura figures representing popular characters are part of anime and video game merchandise and fall under the category of fan service.
