If you are still in Utah Box Elder has their fair in a few weeks. And then the entire state has a fair with all the finalists in September.

Good for you! You are getting in some great experiences! These kids (and families) are hard workers who value quality food sources. Thank you for supporting them. You just helped a kid raise money for college more than likely. 🎉

At our local 4H County Fair auction, most animals go for crazy high amounts and are bought by local business which most of donate the animals back to the kids who raised and showed them. The kids get college fund money and can keep the animal or sell it again privately to someone that wants it for slaughter or their breeding program.

the kids here get to "sell" thier animals. but they keep the money, and the animal. they use the money for next year's animal and this year animal to bread or sell

There is knowing food animals vs pets but you raise it yourself you know exactly what went into it before processed for food and they still get the respect deserved

yeah it's absolutely horrible... these kids raise these animals up the animals trust them and are pets and then they're sent to slaughter.... how do you have empathy for anything in life if you're taught this as a child
