To be fair, Portland has been at a disadvantage for years because people kept stealing the tree, so I don’t think other decorations like a bench would have faired any better.

I'm from Portland. I took my kids to see Mill Ends Park. Actual quotes from my children. "We walked 8 blocks for THIS!?" L, age 10 "I hate this park" V, age 7. 😂
