My opinion is this: Helaena jumped not only to be free, but so that Aegon could fulfill his destiny and return to the throne, and indeed, Rhaenyra could not take the child she carried in her womb hostage, and that prevented her from attacking.
In the second season, she is the one who connects with Daemon to show him what will come in the future, as well as telling him herself, "You know your part in this story." Helaena knew what would happen; her embroidery was always a prediction of what was to come.
Her own visions showed her what would happen if she chose another path; if she kept her child, they would take him away; if she fled, winter would catch up with her, if she stayed, she would have to use her dragon to burn the townspeople alive, and each of those dreams haunted her.
Helaena wanted a different destiny and showed it by defending the baby in her womb and her daughter Jaehaera, but in the end she realized that, with Aegon's return and Rhaenyra's paranoia.
She could not escape her place in history, and that is why, in an act to finally be free from that imposed destiny and those constant nightmares, she fulfills her role and jumps.
(My interpretation; I like to see it that way, i love you helaena)
