Yet decades later, she famously denied that a distinct Palestinian people existed. That contradiction speaks volumes. Palestinians didn’t suddenly appear in 1948. They had families, communities, culture, villages, and a deep-rooted history in the land long before the modern State of Israel was established. Meir’s legacy remains deeply controversial, particularly her role in defending policies that displaced Palestinians and denied their national identity. History should not be rewritten to erase the people who were already there. Palestine has always existed. 🇵🇸 And it will always exist.
