@clinician.insight: “Bro is allergic to calories 😭”But what’s actually happening? 🩺Skin Prick Test (SPT) is used to assess IgE-mediated sensitization to specific allergens.🔹 Small amounts of suspected allergens are placed on the skin 🔹 The skin is lightly pricked 🔹 A wheal-and-flare reaction is assessed, usually after ~15–20 minutes 🔹 Common allergens tested include milk, egg, peanut, wheat, sesame and tree nuts⚠️ Important: A positive skin-prick test indicates sensitization, not necessarily a clinically significant food allergy. Results must be interpreted alongside the patient's history and symptoms.🧠 Clinical pearl: Positive SPT ≠ definite food allergy.Follow @clinicianinsight for more high-yield clinical concepts.#ClinicianInsight #MedicalEducation #SkinPrickTest #Allergy #FoodAllergy #Pediatrics #ClinicalPearls #MedicalStudents #MBBS #Medicine #MedEd #MedicalKnowledge
