@itslaziza: The Tashkent Metro opened on November 6, 1977 as the first metro in all of Central Asia, built to survive a magnitude 9 earthquake and double as a bomb shelter. Photography inside was banned until 2018, so the world only recently got to see marble, ganch carving, chandeliers, and mosaics at every station. It is spotless, air conditioned against 100 degree summers, and it links the whole city for around 25 cents a ride. And the names read like a roll call of who we honor: Alisher Navoi, Mirzo Ulugbek, Kosmonavtlar. Poets, astronomers, and explorers. #Tashkent #TashkentMetro #Uzbekistan #CentralAsia
