@suhaadada: I’m confused why tech is confused that regular people don’t want to use ai agents, or don’t see the value to. Sure, this could be a marketing issue - tech people talking about tech solutions rather than consumer problems. But also agents need max info on you to take helpful action on you. And that’s if they don’t get it wrong. #ai #Tech #news #aiagents #samaltman
tech bros create solutions for THEIR problems. tech bros want huel because they don't enjoy eating or cooking. tech bros want ai to draw for them so they can do math. tech bros still don't understand that they are a very VERY small subset of society. they're Sheldon Cooper

No I'm in tech and it's not a marketing issue it's because an AI agent is unnecessary for almost any task that is not research, coding, or other knowledge work.

I work in tech and am forced to use AI to not end up unemployed. there's no world in which I'm remotely willing or interested in using AI outside of those work hours. I hate it with every fiber of my being.

Most people don’t have that much admin work to do at home that a simple budgeting program and a calendar can’t solve. Also, imagine a kid not getting picked up from soccer practice because the agent goofed. On top of that, what’s the point if living a life you’ve totally outsourced? The value is in the process and the quality of time and care you provide for yourself and others. You’re not trying to extract surplus labor from yourself

An AI agent acting on my behalf sounds like a nightmare. What if it fucks up to the point it affects my work or other people? Absolutely not, I want to own and be aware of my mistakes.

Can AI do my laundry? can it wash the dishes? vacuum? clean the bathroom? take out the trash? These are the things I want to outsource, I can keep track of my own schedule...my brain works fine

They think this is a marketing issue???? They’re damn near projecting the ads through our closed eyelids to force us to view them in our sleep.

As someone who works in IT and isn't inherently hostile towards this technology:
Why would I use an agent outside of work?
No task at home requires a somewhat smart research goblin that easily loses track of its task and hyper focuses on random things.

I read that article and thought it was interesting that the popular use case was a day planner, which only really makes sense if your job is just meetings and emails - ie, CEO of a tech company

i think tech bros severely underestimate how predictable their lives are. for most of the population the issue is managing how unpredictable everyday life actually is, esp. when you live paycheck to paycheck. ai agents only have a use case when your life is predictable and routine enough to pass along to the agent in the first place

I work in tech and barely can find a use for agents so I extra would not have a use for it at a personal level. example, as a parent, I want to stay present.

WE NEED PHYSICAL ROBOTS doing PHYSICAL tasks. Running errands, cleaning, cooking, etc. Literally everything outside of my phone. The eff I need an AI agent for?! THE ASSISTANT NEEDS TO PHYSICALLY DO the tasks! Otherwise it's USELESS.

People don’t want an ai to talk to our kids for us, or paint, or write music. They want ai to do all the other shit that gets in the way of doing those things. But there’s no agent that’s going to do the laundry, cook dinner, and go to work for me while still sending me the paycheck.

It is so clear to me that all of the AI use cases have been thought up by CEOs who are used to having an executive assistant. All of these are things they currently pay someone to do, and so love the idea of having AI do it for them. But everyday consumers don't have an executive assistant! They book their own appointments, they manage their own calendar, they buy their own things and they file their own expenses.

I’ve yet to see a reason for AI to exist at a public consumer level. There’s medical research and stuff and that’s fine. But how does society benefit from AI images, videos, music, audio, articles, books, bot accounts, etc. All it’s brought is slop and deception

I’m in tech ops. I firmly believe they have absolutely no idea how regular, every day people live. We don’t measure our lives in time saved, we don’t think of ways to outsource being a parent or partner, or running our home. We just don’t do any of the shit they use agents for. We don’t.
