ADOPT/RESCUE- SPACE - Needs placement by 10/26 11:00am (CST) Meet Tauro! This 3-year-old boy is an active, playful pup who enjoys fetch, rope toys, and spending time with his favorite people. He can be cautious in new situations but has shown moments of curiosity and friendliness as he gets comfortable. Tauro would appreciate a patient adopter who can help him build confidence and continue working on his leash manners. PG1-Social/DG-Dainty & Gentle ‼️Owner Notes‼️ 10/17: Tauro was a 3-year-old neutered, microchipped dog who was surrendered because his owner was moving out of state. He had been with his family for three years and was described as playful, active, and loving toward his owners. He enjoyed playing rough, tugging on ropes, and fetching. Tauro knew several commands, including sit, paw, walk, come, and crate. He was primarily house-trained but also used potty pads indoors. He tended to pull on the leash when excited. His owner reported that he was protective and displayed aggression toward strangers, other dogs, and cats, but had no reported bite history. Tauro experienced separation anxiety and was taking medication for it. His owner recommended an experienced, adult-only home without other pets, and with someone willing to continue his training. ⚕️Medical Observation⚕️ 10/21: Adoption Exam Completed Altered: Yes. Rabies given in RR leg; DA2PP given SQ in RF leg; Bordetella given intranasally. Flea and Heartworm Prevention given; Pyrantel given PO Blood sample pulled to perform heartworm test: HIGH POSITIVE Microchip FOUND: PT IS BAR, HAD TO BE SQUEEZED GATED CAUITON. At time of tech exam P was aggressive and required manual restraint (Squeeze Gate, Catch Pole etc.) and protective equipment for staff to complete exam. Pet is to go home with remaining Doxycycline prescribed. RX: Doxycycline 100mg Tabs – 10mg/kg(Round down) BID x 28 days. 📝Shelter Observation📝 10/17: BAR did not allow staff to approach or pet him. He pulled very hard on the leash and displayed aggressive behavior, attempting to lunge at people and other animals while being walked to his kennel. I attempted to place A1301710 with his longtime housemate, whom he grew up with. However, when I opened the kennel, A1301710 lunged at her and attempted to bite her. For safety reasons, I immediately separated them and placed them in different kennels to prevent further aggression or potential injury. 10/19: Walked up to kennel and ran up to it and started barking immediately then I got to his level and stopped for a second then I was able to leash him up and walked him around paid no attention towards me only other dogs , was pulling on leash and then I tried to pet and tolerated it for a bit then gave a warning snap , then walked him back to kennel just fine. 10/19: He approached to greet with a wagging tail, a few whines, he's very curious didn't show any sign of aggression towards me. 📞Contact📞 📧Email dasrescue@dallas.gov (To rescue tag) 📧Email dasfoster@dallas.gov (To foster) 📧Email dasadopt@dallas.gov (To adopt) **Adoption is free, out of state is possible** This guide explains how to adopt from DAS, out of state: https://www.dallaslovebugs.com/post/how-to-adopt-a-dallas-animal-services-dog-from-out-of-state #dallastx #dallastexas #dallasanimalservices
