What makes Helaena so special to me is that her story was never really about who deserved the Iron Throne. While everyone around her was obsessed with power, bloodlines, legitimacy and victory, Helaena seemed to understand that life was made of completely different things: beauty, freedom, dignity, small living creatures, private joys, the people you love, and the right to simply exist as yourself. That is why “You think that living is not dying” is such a devastating line. Helaena understood that survival alone is not the same as living. You can keep someone breathing while taking away everything that made their life meaningful. And that is exactly what happened to her. She noticed beauty where everyone else saw insignificance. She valued things no one around her considered important. And while the others destroyed themselves over a throne, Helaena quietly represented something much bigger: the question of what actually makes a life worth living. Maybe that is also why some viewers never fully understood her. She was never written to be a political symbol or someone you could easily turn into “Team Helaena.” She experienced the world differently, and the tragedy is that almost nobody around her ever truly tried to understand that. In a story obsessed with power, Helaena was one of the very few characters who understood life.

People are saying Rhaenyra wasn’t genuine with Helaena in this scene, I get why they say that but I see it more as Rhaenyra doesn’t know how to talk with Helaena like she’s very clearly different (even if she wasn’t a dreamer she’s definitely autistic) and i genuinely think Rhaenyra just doesn’t know how to talk to someone who seems so detached from what’s going on.
