I agree with everything you say. In addition- it’s the social structure that needs to change which make DV against a child so reprehensible and aberrant it’s a deterrent in itself. Violence thrives behind closed doors and in patriarchy. The focus on economics, power and hierarchy needs to be dismantled. For a start.

I 100% agree with you. When my abuse came out I was treated like a liar. My " egg donor" stayed with him and married him a few months later. I was 12. I am now 51 and she's still with him. No one believed me besides my biological father until my sister spoke up a couple of years later. He admitted to it with my sister and could have got 8 years jail, took a plea deal and got a 2 year good behaviour bond and counselling!!

yep. my older brother was taken away and I (being a girl) was left with a drug addict sex worker...geez I wonder what would happen in those circumstances?

That’s heartbreaking. They shouldn’t be allowed to just forget your case. It should send reminders and then automatically escalate if it’s not addressed in a certain time frame.

The police were called to a domestic at my house where my mum stabbed my step dad drugs in the house ect I was still not taken away I was 11 at the time

At that point, it’s not even lazy. At best it’s complicity and at worst it’s explicit support for what was happening to you. Who the hell doesn’t have a fire lit under their ass the moment that they see a kid in need of help like that and try to do whatever they can, no matter the obstacle, especially from a position of authority where you are legally sanctioned to do something about it? Either people who choose to ignore it or those who want it to happen.

I’m a foster carer and when I asked if CP will continue payment (NDIS is about to finish) for my seven year-old to have therapy, they said that was my responsibility and they will only pay when a teenager is about to age out! 🤯🤬

I think there needs to be tangible consequences for the government for these failures, with protection for whistleblowers and consolidation of FOI to close the loopholes commonly exploited by public servants.
