@iammarcus_5: 🇯🇵 The Nissan Skyline R34, produced from 1998 to 2002, represents the tenth generation of one of Japan’s most celebrated performance nameplates. While the legendary GT-R version often steals the spotlight, the regular Skyline R34 models — available as both two-door coupes and four-door sedans — form the backbone of the range and remain highly respected in their own right. Launched in May 1998, the R34 was designed to be more compact and agile than its R33 predecessor. Nissan shortened the wheelbase and refined the chassis for sharper handling and improved balance. The styling evolved into a cleaner, more aggressive look with distinctive headlights that later became iconic, even on the non-GT-R variants. Under the hood, buyers had several choices. The base models used the RB20DE 2.0-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder, while higher trims featured the RB25DE and the popular turbocharged RB25DET NEO. The RB25DET delivered around 280 horsepower in stock form and offered excellent tuning potential, making these cars favourites among enthusiasts who wanted Skyline performance without the GT-R price tag. Power went to the rear wheels in most versions, with a few all-wheel-drive options available lower in the range. The R34 Skyline was offered in various grades, including GT, 25GT, GT-T and GT-X. The GT-T, powered by the turbo RB25DET, became especially popular for its strong mid-range pull and everyday usability. Both coupe and sedan body styles shared the same mechanical DNA, allowing owners to choose between sporty two-door looks or the practicality of four doors. Though never as exclusive as the BNR34 GT-R, the regular R34 Skylines have developed a strong following. Many were heavily modified with widebody kits, suspension upgrades and engine builds, often styled to resemble their more famous GT-R sibling. Their relative affordability, robust engines and distinctive design have kept them relevant decades later. In the end, the R34 Skyline — whether coupe or sedan — stands as a pure expression of late-90s Japanese engineering: refined, tunable and full of character. While the GT-R may be the king, the standard R34 remains a true Skyline at heart. #r34 #skyline #jdm #nissan #r34skyline
