@chinagk_dus: Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites Inscribed as World Heritage, Continuing a Thousand-Year Porcelain Legacy. On July 25, the #Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites were officially inscribed on the #UNESCOWorldHeritageList, becoming China’s 61st listed site. For over a thousand years, Chinese porcelain has traveled the world’s trade routes - from the 67,000-plus ceramic pieces recovered from the 9th-century Belitung shipwreck, to the blue-and-white porcelain gifted to foreign royals during Admiral Zheng He’s voyages, to the pieces that captivated European courts in the 17th and 18th centuries. Along the way, it quietly reshaped craftsmanship abroad too - from Stoke-on-Trent’s Willow Pattern in England to Meissen’s hard-paste porcelain in Germany. The story of Chinese porcelain is still being written. Video credit to: Centre culturel de Chine à Paris
