as a portuguese person i can garantee you , you are way less likely to have a crime commited agaisnt you around those areas than in the touristic areas plus you find spots with such beauty that you wont see advertised anywhere

Sorry babe as someone that married a Portuguese und moved here, you don’t want to live in tourist Portugal, everything is twice the price, und the restaurants/bars/cafes gear towards tourists/expats not so much locals, nice to visit those spots, day/weekend trips, not to live. You want the small villages und towns where everyone knows everyone, is it as pretty, depends who you ask, but it’s authentic plus it feels safe when the neighbourhood avó’s are always on watch 🧡

I have a Portuguese husband. We go every year, these are better than the touristy places, real food with real people in a real community. We also stopped down in Albufeira whilst there for the world cup, I couldn't believe how much it's changed, we struggled to find a decent Portuguese restaurant. Enjoy the fact you get to see the real Portugal.
