Fire on Earth needs oxygen (or another oxidizer) to burn fuel. Space is mostly a vacuum, so there’s almost no oxygen for ordinary fire. The Sun shines because of nuclear fusion, not burning. Deep inside the Sun, enormous pressure and temperature force hydrogen nuclei to fuse into helium. This releases a huge amount of energy as light and heat.
