Defender Jacy Maranhao had just headed in a goal for Coritiba against Chapecoense in the Brazilian top-flight to put his side 1-0 up on Saturday when he decided to leap over an advertising sign. The 29-year-old then disappeared from sight. A tunnel that leads to the away team’s dressing room was on the other side of the hoarding and had been uncovered in preparation for half-time. Maranchao managed to clamber out of the tunnel but suffered an ankle injury. The incident was made even more painful for the player when his goal was later disallowed. The player has said he got “carried away”. Maranchao said he twisted his foot during the fall but said he is “fine”. "Centre-backs hardly ever score goals. So, when you do score ...
