It’s true it’s a cycle of suffering and we don’t even really have free will. I wouldn’t describe reality as evil though, but it appears brutally indifferent. In my life at least there are of course beautiful aspects and moments. Watching a great film, playing sport, being kind, loving your family. But there’s a brutal side to life as well which most people choose to ignore. Although the fact we’re conscious means we aren’t fully within this material world and maybe we can one day escape from it and return to pure consciousness. I found out about Gnosticism the other day and it explains a lot of what I’ve been thinking about the past year
