@c5news: “I wasn’t driving, it’s auto-assisted driving!” A man refused to accept he was speeding, blaming his car for the crime. The driver, who has not been identified, was pulled over in his Tesla which he said was on Autopilot when it was clocked at 64mph in a 45mph zone in Colorado. When approached by officers, the man refused to accept a ticket, saying he was a “good citizen”. As the body-cam footage continued the motorist appeared to become more frustrated, accusing the officer of treating him “like an a******” and demanding to speak to a supervisor. Parker Police Department released the footage with the message: “Here's the reality: Driver assistance technology does not replace the driver. “No matter what technology your vehicle has, the person behind the wheel is accountable for the vehicle's actions. These systems are designed to assist you, not drive for you.” Tesla also reportedly states that Autopilot requires active driver supervision and does not make a vehicle fully autonomous.
