If Phantasmal didn’t have such a nuke of a card, it would be in the same boat. All the other IR’s and SIR’s are very cheap as well. The secret is the set size IMO. That’s why obsidian flames was also so cheap, and why Mega Evo Base has held its value much better, it’s the set sizes.

Going off of a different comment you made, tcg playability, “fantastic art”, and more trainers” is your reasoning to why those are “good sets”. Do you think if they did one print run of any of the three chaos rising, pitch black, and perfect odor that there would be an insane surge in pricing? No, why? Because they are just simply not the greatest sets. Scalpability has nothing to do with it. People in general are not the fondest of those sets, hence why they are down big time. It’s not rocket science.

It’s the poke company’s fault for coming out with these 3 weak sets in a roll and only have less than 85 cards per set. They could’ve easily combined these three sets together and have it as one set..which would’ve been better imo

Just my 2cents I think PSA pulling vaule subs took a lot of grading arbitrage (flippers) people out of the market as well so a decent sized community left Pokemon

it's the sets. IMO Pokemon intentionally made these last 3 sets less hype to cool the market before 30th.

those are 3 sets you can get for MSRP because they are literally bad sets, the majority of fan favourite Pokemon are from gen 1-3 and if you don't a set with any cards form those areas then a lot of people aren't going to buy them, so scalpers arent buying them because the only people buying them are kids that just enjoy opening up packs, and people that just collect all cards regardless. I would love to just see the bible implode on itself and be able to go back to just being able to buy packs and boxes and cards for a fair price if I like it
