Step inside one of the most sacred spaces in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre—behind the Chapel of Joseph of Arimathea, where ancient rock-cut tombs remain from the time of Christ. This area was once a quarry, later transformed into a garden—just as John’s Gospel says: “Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb…” (John 19:41). When Empress Helena came to Jerusalem in the 4th century, she uncovered what Christians believed was the actual tomb of Christ—buried beneath a Roman temple. Just steps away is the Chapel of the Angel, where pilgrims kneel at a marble slab covering the burial bench. Beneath it lie two more slabs—one from the Crusader period and one from Helena’s era—marking centuries of belief and devotion. Botanical traces found here confirm it was once a garden, matching the biblical record. This isn’t just stone—it’s testimony. #HolySepulchre #GardenTomb #EmpressHelena #JerusalemPilgrimage #ChurchHistory #ChapelOfTheAngel #JosephOfArimathea #BiblicalArchaeology #John1941 #AncientFaith #WalkWhereJesusWalked #TombOfChrist #Resurrection #EkklesiaTravels #FaithInStone #StepIntoScripture
