I just got lipid panel results today and while still elevated I’ve dropped 14-23% in 12 weeks with dietary changes. Scored 2.3% Thanks for the education on this.

It asks for eGFR. Is that something the average person would have? I googled the average for my age and entered that in with the other numbers, which I do have. It says 10-year risk is 0.5%, 30-year risk is 4.2% (again, with a made up eGFR). I’m most interested because my LDL is 119, which is higher than the recommended range. It has always been high (111 in my 20s on a nearly vegetarian diet with no milk fat due to an intolerance).

But yet doctors won’t tell you and insurance doesn’t cover a calcium screening which tells you if you have built up in your circulatory system. I have high ldl and eat very well and exercise. My calcium score is 0 and bc I have 0 build up over many years, I’m considered low risk for heart disease. Thank goodness I have a good doctor or I would be on unnecessary medication.

Ok I just did it and my number was low. However it only asks for HDL and total cholesterol. My HDL is low, but my cholesterol is normal, BUT my triglycerides are 250.. so does that change things

I’m not seeing the 189 number references? John’s Hopkins article on the new guideline says below 100 for those without cardiovascular disease.
