@an.i.ma.tion: A clip from "Dandelion, Puffy Cheeks" (Одуванчик - толстые щёки, 1971), directed by Alla Grachyova. A dandelion has gone to seed. A grasshopper laughs at her fat cheeks, and that is all it takes. She spends the film trying to fix herself. The cure turns out to be laughing along. The seeds let go, and the cheeks are gone. Made at Kyivnaukfilm in Kyiv, not Soyuzmultfilm. Script by Feliks Krivin. Alla Grachyova came to animation late and sideways. She worked as a mate on Kyiv riverboats, then practiced architecture for six years. In 1962 she left it and joined Kyivnaukfilm as an animator. She directed her first film in 1966 and kept going for three decades.
